My love of math started at a very young age. I was constantly calculating, calculating and calculating. When I attend University, I realized that math is not only calculating, but also deriving and proving for Theorems. A few years later, I grew passionate about my cogitation. I took the next step by attending graduate studies. I worked as teaching assistant for many years to improve my teaching skills. Now I keep taking about the mathematical idea is much more important than the calculating to my students. Compared with how to solve the problem and how to calculate, students should know why the problem is solved by this way, what is the principle behind it and the idea of the problem maker. As long as they have mastered the key ideas, they will not panic when they deal with problems that they have never seen before. That is the real short-cut. Besides University-level math, I am very familiar with IB math, AP Calculus AB/BC, SAT math, Waterloo Mathematics Competitions, American Mathematics Competitions and BC Math Curriculum since I already worked as afterschool
math tutor for three years. I deeply know what students need and what I can bring to them.
